The First team made the long trip to Thurston looking to get back to winning ways. After a slow start where both teams had half chances we took the lead on 15 minutes when Connor burst through midfield, passing the ball to Jack whose chip hit the bar and was volleyed in by Mower.
This gave us the confidence to get the ball down and play, and on 25 minutes we doubled our lead. Sam played a one-two with Mower, passed the ball wide for Isaac who crossed for Sam to control and volley into the net.
After around 35 minutes Isaac was taken out by the keeper by the corner flag and from the free kick Joe kept the ball alive and the ball deflected off Connor and into the goal for 0-3. This is how it stayed until half time.
The second half started with Thurston breaking through only for Kev making a point blank save. We then took control of the game playing some of the best football of the season but without being able to add to the lead.
With around 10 minutes left Ash ran past a couple of players on the right and cut inside to slot past the keeper and finally make it 0-4.
Thurston managed to pull a goal back just before the end and the match finished 1-4.
An excellent result but just as pleasing was the style of football we played on a very heavy pitch, and every player contributed to a great performance including Shaun with a 5 minute cameo appearance.
Next week the First team are at home to Kirton and the Reserves away to Old Newton A.
