The first team travelled to Woolverstone looking for their first league win of the season. Having beaten our opponents only two weeks ago in the Junior Cup confidence was high.
We started on the front foot and soon took control of the match playing some excellent passing football on a very wet surface. Very soon Jack W (on briefly for Sharman) broke down the right, crossing for Owen whose shot hit the top of the bar.
After 15 minutes a poor challenge left Isaac with an imprint of studs on his knee resulting in an early change with Southey coming on at left back. Sax continued to dominate down the slope but, despite some great chances, could not make the breakthrough so half time 0-0.
The second half followed the same pattern and around the hour mark we finally went ahead. It started with Kev leaping to punch a high cross out followed by a great ball over the defence by Charlie for Joe M to run onto and lob the keeper.
Unfortunately we did not push on our advantage and allowed our opponents back into the game and they made it 1-1. We then had a mini collapse letting in a second, and then chasing the game further chances were given away. Just before the final whistle we conceded a third and the game ended 3-1.
So another defeat having played really well for 70 minutes. Had chances been taken we could have been 3 up at half time. Overall a promising performance but we need to see it through a full 90 minutes.
Next week is at home to Stonham Aspel in what is already a vital match to gain 3 points.
