The First team made another long trip, this time to Elmswell, looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season.
We soon settled into a good passing rhythm with large amounts of possession, but the final ball often let us down and we could not initially convert the domination into a goal.
After several near misses, including Kyle Messenger (sponsored by Ensors Accountants LLP) hitting the post, we finally got the breakthrough midway through the half from a bullet header by captain Will Stebbings (sponsored by R&R Carpentry) from a corner.
Our domination continued and a second goal soon followed when Joe Moore (sponsored by Xtra Time Sports Development) bundled the ball over the line, and we went in at half time 2-0 to the good.
Elmswell rallied in the second half and the game became a more even contest, but at no point did we really look troubled. We continued to create chances and Kyle Messenger was again unfortunate to hit the post.
Matt made changes which freshened things up and in the final 20 minutes, with our opponents tiring, we again got on top and the third goal finally came though Joe Moore's second of the game.
With around 10 minutes remaining we scored a fourth through a good driving shot by Rob Stephenson (sponsored by Jeffery & Associates).
The match ended with a 4-0 victory which, given our dominance, was well deserved and could have been more. Credit to Elmswell who kept going despite only having one sub and chasing the game for large parts of the match.
The Reserves faced Kesgrave Kestrals A at Carlton Park and got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory, through goals from Olly Seymour and Angus Ferguson (sponsored by KV Medical Aesthetics).
The Club celebrated two great victories with a night out at our kit sponsor The Railway Tavern. There is a great spirit and togetherness throughout the Club as we continue to make progress both on and off the pitch.
Next week sees the First team on their travels yet again, to high flying Kirton Athletic, whilst the Reserves have aother home match at Carlton Park against Mendlesham.
