After many away travels, and opponents cancelling matches when we were scheduled at home, the First team finally had a match at Carlton Park again. However 15 minutes prior to the scheduled ko time we were concerned as our opponents only had 7 players. Fortunately further players arrived and we managed to ko, albeit a few minutes late.
The match was a little scrappy early on with misplaced passes and little rhythm, but we soon took control, and the lead, after around 15 minutes through a smart finish by Joe Moore (sponsored by Xtra Time Sports Development).
We continued to press for another goal, creating half chances, and soon after Joe Moore grabbed his second goal with a left foot volley after a shot by Ryan Everington was saved by the keeper.
More chances came and went, the most notable Ryan Everington unfortunate to hit the post and Daniel Blowers (sponsored by CDC Blowers Ltd) heading wide from a cross by Isaac Page (sponsored by C Page Motors).
The second goal proved illusive and the half ended 2-0.
The second half began with Sax in complete control pushing for the third goal. We stretched our opponents using the full width of the pitch and getting crosses into the box. Finally the third goal came courtesy of a penalty after Ryan Everington was fouled. This allowed Joe Moore to step up and complete his hat-trick.
Joe didn't stop there as, later in the match, he grabbed his fourth goal with a great finish inside the near post. A fantastic performance by Joe who has been scoring consistently all season.
The game ended 4-0 and it could have been more. Our opponents barely created a chance all game and we dominated most of the play.
A good crowd was again present to watch the victory and there was a great atmosphere in the clubhouse after the match.
The Reserves travelled to high flying Eye Saints but unfortunately were on the wrong end of a 4-1 score line, with our goal scored by Jermaine Haynes.
Next week sees the First team making the short trip to local rivals and Senior side Benhall in the League Cup, whilst the Reserves host Stowupland Falcons A.
